Michael Marshall
Michael Marshall, PE is an Oil & Gas industry consultant with 38 years experience working in the downstream, midstream and petrochemical industries. While working first with Chevron (10 years) and then Marathon Petroleum Company (23 years - retired), he progressed through various in-plant and corporate refining facility and project engineering, operations, maintenance, and equipment inspection/reliability supervisory and managerial positions. Mike's many years of hands on experience serving in frontline engineering, operations, maintenance and inspection roles instilled in him the importance of properly designed risk minimization and management systems, performance metrics and KPIs. He has unique insight and expertise in areas of risk-based design relative to loss of containment (LOPC) damage mechanisms, safety systems and overpressure protection.
BEN mAcFarlane
Ben MacFarlane is an Oil & Gas economist with 17 years industry experience who began his career in field and gas plant maintenance and operations. He then continued his education to complete an M.S. degree in Mineral Economics where he learned to use algorithms to see historic data relationships, forecast into the future and to solve for optimal financial or physical metrics. Ben spent 5 years analyzing natural gas, oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs) markets for BENTEK Energy where he was instrumental in creating an innovative line of data models and automated reports focused on supply, demand and prices of NGLs. He then changed his focus to analyzing markets and M&A opportunities for DCP Midstream. In that role for 6 years, he built a corporate model to calculate optimal ethane rejection level at all individual plants maximizing profitability. He also built a model forecasting natural gas production based on multiple producer activity scenarios to drive informed capital decisions. Currently, Ben is using his expertise to assist companies with their understanding of oil and gas markets through intuitive data dashboards.
